Interested in joining our volunteer advisory board?

GFC is looking for folks who live or work in the WNESU school district, are supportive of prevention of substance misuse and community building,  and want to help the organization with their work. This is a great opportunity if you're beginning to explore volunteer board leadership as it is a low-requirement position. To find out more about GFC and being on the board, please view this short video about the organization from FACTV.

The board meets once a month (currently in-person on the fourth Monday of the month, at 5:30 p.m., at Parks Place Community Resource Center) along with committee meetings, as needed. Board members are also asked to help with fundraising and sponsorship efforts, board recruitment, and tabling at events. Adult board members are able to serve on the executive committee.

Members are generally elected to the board during the annual meeting held in late June, however members can be voted to the board at any time. Board members typically begin their term on July 1 and are requested to serve for one year. Board members can serve for up to five years consecutively. The application to be a board member is located here.

Sector Leaders

GFC engages with 12 sectors of the community to reduce youth substance use. Sector leaders come from different areas in our community, though they do not represent all people, entities, or businesses that are in the same sector. Sector leaders advise GFC on various tasks and projects, such as strategic planning; and they serve as a liaison to their networks.

The sector groups are:

  • parent

  • youth

  • education/school

  • state or local government

  • media

  • business

  • law enforcement

  • youth-serving organization

  • volunteer organization

  • healthcare professional

  • other substance abuse prevention organization

Interested in becoming a sector leader?

We are always looking for sector leaders. If you’re interested or need more information, call Ginger at 802-463-9927 ext. 212.
